Hurt hen! Please help me help her.

The strip that got torn on my girls face turned black and fell off on it’s own within a few days. I don’t think cutting it off would make much difference. Your call. Just make sure the other chickens don’t peck at it. In our case, they completely ignored it.
Okay thanks! Ill just leave it then.

I would not use camphophenique on an open wound. It has camphor in it and would be an irritant. IMHO.
Oh okay. Ill keep that in mind. Only think I have been using is the triple antibiotic and saline solution so far. But for any other future injuries I'll remember this.

It may sting to some upon initial application like iodine but in my experience using it since I was a kid, it has a cooling effect that soothes pain and itching.
There are three types of Campho Phenique and I recommend the Pain and Itch Relieving Antiseptic Gel
As an antiseptic it helps prevent infection.

When would you guys suggest reintroduction? Shes scabbing today and no more blood. Shes been inside the house since the incident. (Yesterday morning) I have a pretty good idea on HOW to integrate her back in but not WHEN.

Make sure she stays hydrated, check that she's eating and drinking on her own. I'm sure she will be fine, but it's scary nonetheless! Good luck!

I just remembered the Blu Kote stuff, I haven't used it but maybe some others here could advise you if that would be a good idea, especially if she's going to be around the others. You know they will want to peck at the injured area.

Well I just took her outside and let her roam with the rest of the flock and she seems to be getting along fine. She actually started establishing some dominance right off the bat. And now they are pecking and scratching like nothing is different. (I stayed outside with them this entire time to see what kind of behavior I would be dealing with) So I'll prob just let her roam with them in the day for a few hours and keep her inside at night till she is completely healed. Only problem I saw was one was trying to peck at the skin that is dangling but she wasnt having it and made them stop.
Would this be a good solution till she is healed? Or would putting her in a segregated place in the coop be better?
