Hurt leg :( now WITH PICS

I had a chick limp and keep it's leg up due to injury (I think mom hen stepped on it) starting at day 3 or 4. I didn't know exactly what caused it and what to do - but I gave it poly-visol (no iron) baby drops 2x a day , did a bit of "physical therapy" by gently pulling the leg up and back a couple of times each time I gave it vitamins, kept a close eye on it when it could not keep up with momma hen - and provided extra heat light as well, and about 4 or 5 days later - she is running with the rest of them...and you would never know anything was wrong. Hope that offers some encouragement! I think the vitamins are great for them in healing! Good luck!

I hope it works!!! I really like her. Plus she's my only New Hampshire Red!

I'd sure use polyvisol, no iron.
Can you freely move the leg and kind of "pop" it back in place, if so it's a slipped tendon, I've had 2 like that and they grew up to be healty chickens, their leg still twists out to the side when they walk and the people that bought them love them and they are special.

thats what it seems to do....i dont have them on newspaper or anything slippery so it cant be spraddle leg right?

Glad to see the pro-posters found this one
