Hello everyone! I hope you all are staying healthy and safe. This morning I found my hen Evie struggling to walk. She was perfectly fine yesterday and is acting normally today despite her not being able to walk normally. She can still get around but it is quite clunky and she struggles. Her feet are in a weird position, pictures included below. Is there anything I can do to ensure a speedy recovery? Please let me know, I would be grateful for any advice! Thank you!!

How old is she? Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease? Could you start some vitamins—B complex or a chicken vitamins with riboflavin— in case of a riboflavin deficiency?

Thank you for your response! She is about 5 months old and no she wasn’t vaccinated. I don’t think it was a deficiency, she is quite small for her age, I think it is just her genes because she eats just as much as the other chickens, so my guess is that she hurt her leg when one of my roosters jumped on her to try to mate with her. She is still acting normally and doesn’t seem stressed out so I’m a little wary of giving her supplements or medicine if it’s only her leg that’s a little hurt. Any ideas? Thank you again!

Human super B complex is very inexpensive and safe for chickens. You can crush half a tablet daily and sprinle over food or in a little water. It can help with curled under toes and leg issues.

Hopefully, it is an injury, and not Mareks, but Mareks can show up at her age. Mareks can look different in each case. Here is some reading about it:

There is a $20 blood test available for chickens that you can get here:
