Hurt leg??

I have 5 chickens that are about 2 months old, the last few days we've noticed that one of them seems to be limping? At first I thought it was just a 'chicken walk' but now I am sure she's limping. She seems to lay down most of the day, only getting up to run or walk if she's trying to get away from me Today when I checked on her she seems to be laying on her side. I don't see any injury and she otherwise appears healthy (although these are my first chickens so I am FAR from an expert).

What should I do? I have no idea? Leave her alone? Isolate her? The other chickens seem to be carrying about their business like normal.

Watch her to make sure the she doesn't begin to have problems with the other leg. I had one that started having trouble just after 8 weeks and the other leg went lame within a week. She could stand to eat and drink but was getting worse. She got bad enough that I put her down this past weekend. I hope you have better results. She was one of 39 and the other 38 have shown no symptoms.

You should try giving it baby liquid vitamins. ONe drop in the beak morning and night for a couple days and then once a day for a while to see if that helps. I had a chick act like it had a problem walking and would stumble and then wound up not able to walk. When a second one did the same I realized it had to be related. Vitamins fixed them right up. I also crumbled a B vitamin complex tablet and put it in the chick starter. The medicated feed can prohibit absorption of B vitamins. It certainly won't hurt any to try.

Did your chicken get better?

I have a 4 month old Buff Orpington that went lame 3-4 days ago. Her limp got progressively worse until today she would not get up to walk to the water and she is holding one leg straight forward at a very awkward angle. She is now in a straw-lined pen and is eating and drinking well. I am pretty sure the leg is broken and we're prepared to nurse her as long as it takes. She is not reacting to palpation of the leg in any way and does not seem to be in distress.
