I have young male Indian runner duck with what looks like an intestines might be coming out of his bottom any way to help him. Can't afford vet bills.

I have attached a couple of pictures. He is about 8 months old.

While I'm not an expert that looks probably more like a prolapsed penis than intestines. You may want to search this site or google for what other people did for that situation, it's not too uncommon. Googling it will likely bring you to the best threads on this site for information. Since he's not obviously bleeding or dried out, it's not serious --- yet. It may go back in of its own accord or he may have torn something and require some help. Sometimes people treat it akin to a prolapsed hen who won't stay put.

Yes it looks as though the penis has not retracted. As funny as this sounds , we had a Muscovy male called elvis. The same thing happened, he never left the girls alone. We live by the river and could never catch him. When I fed them I would try to get a look at it. It just shrivelled up and I'm assuming fell off. He lived 4-5 years after that .

Well that leaves you with 2 options. Leave it alone ( and prey that it shrivels up and drops off, without any dramas ) or take him to the vet. I'm not even going near the KY option.

Generally the advice is get him away from the girls, give him a nice lukewarm bath - no soap - just let him float and paddle. Keep him in a clean separate environment. You may want to spray the phallus with a little Vetericyn (just a thought that occurred to me).

In this case you can try the 'prolapsed hen' treatment people use for hens who won't stay put. It involves binding a pad over the area to hold it in, but, of course, that's also his pooper, lol, so it's possibly not the easiest route. But may be your only chance to save his penis. Not sure if he can mate without it, theoretically he could but you may find fertility reduced to almost zero minus the penis, animals that have them do tend to be pretty dependent on them for reproductive purposes. I've never had a prolapsed hen so can't advise you with the dressing if you choose to try that. Anyway, best wishes with your conundrum.
