My Husband Thinks We Need To Downsize Our Poultry Yet He Does Not Want To Get Rid Of Some Of Our Cows (We Have Over 500 He Can Not Even Remember Their Names) So I Am Arguing With Him And I Don’t Know What To Do I Want To Keep My Chickens Any Tips??

How big is your cattle ranch?? I hardly see a comparison between even 70 chickens vis-a-vis 500 cows. Are the chickens extremely close to the house or something where the noise bothers your husband?

Do you wind up giving commercial feed to the cows, or is there enough pasture for all of them to eat?

If you're giving commercial feed to that many cows, it gets real expensive real quick! The chickens are hardly any comparison.

However, you might placate your husband by butchering a few of the chickens like extra cockerels and spent layers. That will make it clear to him that you are actively managing the chickens for production, rather than just rescuing and letting them hang out. Then maybe do some chicken dinners...

Haha that's what I'm thinking. I have a hungry 11 month old, a 4 and 6 year old and the broilers, pullets and cat all crowing, crying and meowing for food.

Cows require more food and more expense? Why not cut down the number of cows? They sell more than a show quality chicken? Right??
