I was just wondering if any of you have made your own cages/hutches for your bunnies? When we got our bunnies this summer, we kind of "put together" their cages, it was nothing special, just safe and secure. I would love any ideas for your homemade cages, right now I have not spent a thing on supplies, just what I had around the house.

Also, how do you all keep your buns cool in this hot weather? I have been putting frozen water bottles in their cages for now. Any other ideas, it is really hot here and their cages are in the backyard with the sun beating down (the buns have shade though, we shade the cages with boards).

    Anyhoo, thanks!

We have rigged our rabbits cage to allow some time on the ground which is always cooler. I got the idea from some UK rabbit hutches. We have an elevated hutch(about 24 inch legs) and we put cage wire around the bottom and allow her some time outside of the hutch. Just be careful if you leave the access to bare ground because the little buggers can dig to China!
