Hybrids... Just a friendly Conversation please.

I love mutts. I have a lovely rooster who is a light sussex/BR cross. I was hoping for some pullets but I got all roos on the first hatch. When I shared pictures of the roo I somehow struck a nerve with someone, he said that making mutt chickens ruins everything. And that no one likes them. I don't think one chicken is pure though. This said hater breeds bantam cochins for show quality and what not. Banty cochins can't be pure! Someone had to use another breed in order to get them to that size.
Anyways I wanted pullets to see egg production. Two dual-purpose birds and their outcome would be great research! If the egg production was great I would have more crosses! Don't have that light sussex roo anymore though.

If it can happen naturally, and between domesticated animals, I don't see how anyone could have a problem.

The problem is when you start crossing domesticated animals and wild animals, then making them pets. That's where I see the problems arising; not that there are hybrid animals or that they are being made.

I have no problem with carefully planned and managed hybrids (although, I think all living things should be compassionately planned and managed...). Mostly, I just so very much want one of those beautiful Camalot Macaws. They make me think of ginormous Sun Conures, which would fit in well at my place since I call my Sun Conure a teacup macaw. He needs a BIG brother.
