Stormy and I live in the Central Valley of California, in the old suburbs of a small town. We started our first garden here in March and have been expanding it ever since. In August we got two pullets at the flee market. They both turned out to be Bantams of some sort. In October one was laying and one was crowing. We got them for the eggs but couldn’t bear to get rid of him. So three weeks ago we got him a full grown leghorn hen. It’s so funny watching him try to stay on top of her the full 8 seconds. She isn’t laying for some reason. We’re working on it. Guess that’s about it.

Hi Rik, welcome! We have a great bunch in the buy sell trade and this spring there will be a fantastic variety of eggs available for sale. You might want to buy an incubator now and fiddle around with it before the "serious" egg hatching, chick raising, learning season starts.... just a suggestion. If you hear a little voice in your head saying, "Oh, I only want a few hens for eggs" please ignore it. Within a couple of months you will be hatching, posting pics of babies, going completely crazy like the rest of us!
