Hello All!
I’m Susan. I’ve been thinking about and researching the art of raising chickens for a bit over a year. I finally got 9 chicks from TSC on April 2, 2020: 3 Golden Comets, 3 ISA Browns, and 3 Speckled Sussex. I had originally planned on ordering other breeds from a hatchery, but my local TSC ordered way too many chicks, so I figured I’d help them out.
I couldn’t be happier.
The Golden Comets are a couple of weeks older than the others, but they all get along. I live on a 60 acre plot of land, with about an acre and a half fenced in. My fiancé and I built a large chicken tractor for the girls (and possibly one or two boys of the Speckled variety). We also have four dogs and two inside cats. Never a dull moment around here.
I currently work from home, and have been spending some time each day with the chicks. The older girls are just about fully feathered, with the other 6 not far behind. Chicken TV is one of my favorite and most relaxing things to watch. I’m pretty sure I’m addicted. I don’t usually interact in online forums, but I do enjoy reading and learning from the posts of others.
Happy chicken keeping!
