I’m confused. Hen or Roo

I swear to you this bird laid a green egg. I even took a pic of her on the egg after. However people say this is a Roo?

Definitely male, 'she' was not the one who laid the egg.

Definitely not a hen. That is a rooster. You can tell from the sickle feathers, hackle feathers, and saddle feathers.

Saddle feathers tell the whole story by around 16 weeks (on non hen feathered breeds).. I agree the bird pictured is indeed 100% a cockerel! See images from google for example..

That being said.. SOME roosters have been known to search out good nests for the ladies to lay in and may even take a turn sitting on clutches. Not usually EE.. but perhaps you saw him coming out of the nest box and confused the behavior??

ETA: sometimes they even sing the egg song along with the ladies or when startled.

Oh cheese and crackers. It was standing over a wet army green egg. We assumed and even took a picture of it that it was a hen
