So, Howard, my big duck, has a raspy whisper of a voice. Pretty sure Howard is indeed a male. However, he grew really fast and doesn’t walk much. I’ve had to separate him from the chickens and other duck because they were pulling out his tail feathers. They are all fine together when they are out in the yard but he gets picked on in the pen so he goes in a separate area at night. Beverly is different. She is smaller, very loud, and active. She loves her chickens and they love her. She also loves splashing around with Howard and they will talk to each other across the lawn when he is slowly trying to catch up. However, recently, she has been having more male behavior (from what I’ve read) in the pool with Howard. Last week I watched her mount him and do the whole mating behavior, but as if she was the male... I’m confused!! Help!!

Possibly she wants to mate and the Howard can't because of...Maybe Howard needs to go on a diet. Could there be something wrong with his legs? Since Beverly is loud she isn't a Ben. Only the females are loud.

Her wanting to mate is what I’m thinking, she got really aggressive about it though. The whole pushing the head under water and jumping on top... not sure if that is normal. I’m starting niacin drops soon to hopefully get some strength back in his legs.

Ok... so it may be normal for a female to act like that??? Like the “confused” female dogs that hump things too. They both seemed quite happy after she got it out of her system. Jumped out of the pool and were running around together like nothing happened.

I believe its normal. Ducks are very naughty animals, if you know what I mean. I have two female ducks who seriously act like 16yr old hormonal boys. 🤣🤷‍♂️👀🤣🤮🤮
