How many chickens would be recommended for my size coop?

I can have one large coop with inside measuring 8’x16’ with roughly 25’ of roosting space and 2 runs one measuring 7’x16’ and the other 10’x10’

Or I can shut a door inside and have 2 sperate spaces, small one is 8’x3’ with the 10’x10’ run and the larger one is 8’x13’ with the 7’x16’ run.

1. What could I fit in the whole area?
2. What could I fit in the small area?
3. What could I fit in the larger area?

I know there are multiple things to consider regarding flock make up and space, but I’m just asking for the general guidelines.

Here is some pictures... it’s all I have right now. Free range time is limited due to a heavey predator population.

Part of the large inside area, FYI it’s been updated with 6 nesting boxes.

Assuming you're going by a 4 coop/10 run ratio:

As a whole, the coop could hold roughly 25 birds (restricted by roost length). If you went strictly by floor space it could hold around 32, however I see that you're using some floor space for storage so the actual number could be lower. The combined runs could hold 21.

Divided, the small coop set up would hold 6 (I'm assuming enough roost space) and the run 10. So overall, 6, especially since the coop space is narrow which makes it harder to place ventilation, roosts, etc.

Divided, the large coop set up would hold 25 (assuming the existing roost is over there) and the run 11. The run is the real restriction here, so I definitely would not go over 11 in this side.

If the main goal is maximizing space, I would not divide up the setups.

every thing could hold about 21-23 adult birds. the runs are the problem, if you made them bigger you could probably have 25-30 birds, if you get more roost space

Ugh, that’s about what I thought. I only have 11 in there right now but plan to hatch more this spring and grow out as many as possible. I wanted to do the NPIP testing but I think I have to have 30 birds over 6mo to do the testing.
I wish the runs were bigger too! I covered the big one so they could be out in it no matter the weather.

Ventilation is not an issue, if anything I have too much. Most of the stuff on the floor isn’t there anymore.

This is the roost in the small pen and all 11 of my birds currently squeeze on it at night. ‍ :idunno Even though they have the entire coop available!
