Hello, happy to be here! We have 4 20 week old sapphire gem hens. They’re great and it’s been an adventure as new chicken owners. Grateful for this resource! Live in eastern PA.
For a week one of the girls will not stand up and sits/ moves on her hocks. Otherwise she’s doing great. Eats like a champ, trills softly, laid an egg everyday day this week while in confinement in the house (others were pecking at her viciously). No bumblefoot. Gave a bath and legs looked fine but wouldn’t pedal or attempt to stand. Been giving poultry cell, lately in undiluted doses. She’s eating lots of scrambled eggs and watermelon. I’m stumped. And worried. Any ideas thank you.
I know about riboflavin deficiency causing hock sitting and plan to switch to a b complex pill. Not hopeful because along w sitting on hocks another symptom of this deficiency is lack of egg production and she’s super productive. Hope this isn’t too much I’m feeling desperate. Has this happened to anyone else’s bird??
