I’m new! I need help!

Hi! Welcome to BYC! It would also be to you advantage to locate your state thread on this site, to find someone close to you that may have chickens to place. Also ask the shelter what rescue group they partner with so maybe they will let you adopt a chicken from them.

Hiya :frow
Nice to meet you!
:welcome
Good for you wanting to adopt chickens that have been turned into shelters :highfive:
One thing I can think of is having a quarantine area for new arrivals. Somewhere you can keep them secluded away from your flock (as you build your flock). Allot of times the stress of moving (new home or to a shelter) can stress the birds to where if they’re harboring viruses or illness it will come to the forefront. Please spend sometime researching bio security and the good habits that keep birds safe during this transition period.
Introducing new birds to each other is also a process. After quarantine a pen within the pen where they can see each other yet be safe is always good to have ready before hand.
I wish for you nothing but good things as you start your endeavors.
