I have a cat and a dog. My dog is a black lab cross with a type of terrier I assume- mutt, his name is Jasper. My cat is an adorable fluffy affectionate kitty that has a wild side and loves mousing, his name is Relly. My family consists of my husband and his 4 children. We live on a 4 acre parcel of land in northern Alberta, Canada. We live in his house that he built about 10 years ago. He built a Rammed Earth home. It is an alternative building method similar to concrete and it’s a beautiful product.

G'Day from down under kirstenchickenlady :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Thanks everyone! You guys are so welcoming. This is the coop my husband made and we also built a run for them. The coop is insulated for our harsh climate of -40 Celsius in the winter. Our roo had some of his comb frost bitten and fell off!!

We want to incorporate a type of run with our garden. I will take a snoop around these forums and see if I can find any good ideas.
