Hate to state what’s been discussed previously. I agree that I don’t think it could have come from the inside. Is there any chance you can make a tiny incision and pull the whole thing out? Is the head of the screw right against her skin?

The head does not feel anywhere near the surface—I can’t feel it with my fingers.

Looks like a sheetrock screw. I'm guessing around 1 5/8"

well, I did too. Right under the surface but OP cant feel it .

Chickens are like 2 yr olds. always into something. Lots of interesting posts here. I remember one where a chicken swallowed someones diamond ear ring. She got it back I believe when it came out the other end.

Try cutting away all the feathers from the lump to the screw. There is, what looks like, a small hole to the right of the lump in the pic. This may be the entry point, which would be better news than, if she ate it. You may even able to see/feel more with the area cleaned up...JJ
