I’m worried I may have a male?!

No crow collars don’t completely stop them from crowing. They still do but it’s dampened a bit. Keep in mind with and without the collar, roosters are still roosters. They will bite. They will scratch. They will attack. These collars do not take away the testosterone

Somewhat....Depend on how they were raised and the demeaner of this bird. Juveniles are awkward and not as patience as older birds for the most part. They can be a handful but not all are.

If you aren’t going to be able to allow them into your yard and they’ll be in a coop/run all the time and if this is your first time with chickens, I would rehome him. You have time before any aggression or sexual maturity but start looking or put a craigslist ad out now.

Certain breeds are easier to tell earlier. Looks like he has a pea comb with three rows of bumps, compare that to your other chickens and you’ll see only one row of bumps. That’s a clear difference between male and female.

But he can stay with the girls for now?
They are all so attached to each other. I can’t imagine separating them

From all the roos i’ve had (god knows i’ve accidentally taken in a lot lol) they’ve all been aggressive, even the ones i hand raised. Biting was the biggest problem with them. I do agree on the point of older birds bein more patient though, they tend to get more mellow as time goes on but you have to get through the difficult and annoying teenage and early adult stages

If there are other animals, Dogs, large cats, that are not kept in their own yard, wildlife ect. in your neighborhood you will lose one of them in time if not protected by a fence.Then there is the bird of pray thing but, that's for another day.
