Hi so I have pet ducks they are 7 weeks old and we are going to start letting them sleep outside, but I am worried about them not being able to fly away from predators. Will they learn to fly on their own? Orb how can I get them to fly?

Do you have a secure place for them to be outside? If you have predators nearby (most people do) they need a run and sleeping area that has 1/4" hardware cloth around it, underground about a foot for predators that might dig, and a secure roof. Otherwise you'll likely lose them and that would be so sad.

You have pet ducks. You can't let pet ducks sleep outside. Livestock ducks can sleep outside, if you are willing to accept losses to predators. Are you prepared to find a bunch of bloody feathers in the morning? If the answer is yes, go ahead and let them sleep outside, otherwise they need to be in the coop every night.

Your profile picture shows a Rouen, they are not going to be able to fly, their body weight is not portioned to their wingspan. if you keep them out there in a un-secure area, you won't have any left.

My duckies stay in a large dog house with a hardware cloth locking door. We made the door. They go in on their own each night and i just have to shut the door.
this was a good cheap option for us because as these other posters note : ducks are a favorite food to allot of predators.
My ducks can fly and in the past, even with chicken wire, a mink got into the barn and killed one through the fence.
i love ducks so my best pro tip on training ducks is fresh peas! They love peas. as a bonus, peas are rich in niacin (vitamin B) which ducks absolutely need to be healthy.
they also love fresh tomatoes
