I take utmost pride in my country and love the freedom we can experience here. Too many americans take our liberties for granted these days and Im just here to tell everyone we are still One Nation Under God. We have fought and bled for ours and others freedom. We should stand proud to hold the american flag and keep strong in these days of uncertainty. I am humbled when I think of our men and women fighting for our freedoms, we owe them much more than we will ever know.

I am PROUD to be an american.

God bless America
Land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night
With the light, from above.

I am American. To me, however, America is not a nation - after all, any nation or other political entity can go bad. America is an idea. American, to my mind, means being willing to defend the rights of man generally, and the ideals of liberty and self-government. Is this not what our forefathers gave their lives for? A land where people's rights are respected and protected, rather than infringed upon, by the government? Certainly, they had their flaws - all humans do - but the core ideals that they fought and died for still present a beacon of hope. They gave their lives - to what end? Is today's United States what they - by they I mean the soldiers who fought for our independence and liberty - would want to see? Does it really still present a beacon of true liberty? I'll let others answer that question.

I'll be the first to admit that america has its fair share of problems but you have to look at it in perspective. Go to another country like Brazil where the government literally controls what the public sees in every media source. Or maybe China where people are treated like cogs in a giant machine. How about you live in Iran for a week. Im afraid you might look at our country a bit differently. We might have our problems, but we have the liberty to protest and fix those problems. Democracies power is not in freedom necessarily, it is in the power of a malleable government. A government that can change to suit the needs of the populace. Whether it be for more freedom or more regulation.

"Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one." - Thomas Paine

PS. The mere ability to state your opinion on this forum is a freedom many take for granted.

And we are proud to have you here. Living and enjoying the American lifestyle. While we have problems, we also have free choice. I may not like what some people say, but I will defend their ability to say it.

Our problems lie MOSTLY (I think) with thin-skinned "do-gooders" who insist on ALL ATTITUDES being "the same" and all COMMENT being "Politically Correct" ..... whether TRUE or FALSE.

It's a perversion of our "Freedom-of-Speech" at the very least.

AND a LIE at the VERY WORST.

I can still cuss and flip the finger without going to jail here... I'm cool with being an American long as I can do that!
