I 75 question

Well I am not sure what part of 75 you are on now, but you will pass right by my house in KY. KY and OH have strict laws on fireworks, but IN has loose laws, so they advertise heavily. I believe TN also has less restrictive firework laws. I know people from here drive to either one of those states to purchase them all the time. Not sure on the spas.

Doh! I see last you were in GA. I have no idea about firework laws down there, but imagine it's the same kind of thing.

But when, other than the 4th of July do you light enough fireworks to warrant all these stores? Wouldn't one every hundred miles or so be enough? Why so many??

Our drive thru Kentucky was wonderful. I wish I hadn't worried so much about the whole experience beforehand. The roads were great (once outside Michigan), the scenery beautiful and the traffic light. I love this country and am so glad I have had the opportunity to see so much of it. On to New Mexico and San Francisco next month. Have been to San Francisco a few times but never New Mexico. Hoping to pick up some nice boots.

Georgia is a no fireworks state. Tennessee is an anything goes fireworks state. As many of these stores as they are an you still cant get in the parking lot several times a year. They do make enough around the forth to hold them over all year but they are also full of normal gas station an tourist stuff.

"spas"..... Yes you can get normal spa stuff done there but it is really a cover for the back room that makes the real money. US search laws make them hard to bust even when everyone knows what is going on there. An when they do bust them its the workers that go to jail an the owner has possible deny-ability.

Oh, I love San Fran. I was only there for a short time, but it was so great. I loved the farmer's market in the pier there. Yes, I went to a farmer's market on vacation, lol.

I don't know when else people let off fireworks, Labor Day weekend maybe?

The roads are getting hot and tractor trailer tires have re-caps...(with the exception of steering tires) Try not to ride beside them if you can help it. If you notice a tire that has a piece of rubber flapping ~ get away from it. As the tires heat up on the hot asphalt, the caps start peeling away and can be dangerous if contact is made with these "gators".

Enjoy your trip!!!

Shredded truck tires on the road, often called "gators" are mainly the result
of recapped tires.

Some are good and last a long time. Others go...POP and fly apart.

Southern states tend to be a hotter climate, and recaps don't take the heat
as well as virgin tires. Same with the weight...a fully loaded tractor-trailer is
maxed out about 80,000 pounds....that's heavy. Now give it hot tires.

Why?

You can buy a "new" recap in the $125.00 range, installed. A virgin truck tire
can be anywhere from $300. to $450 each. That's a lot of money on an
18 wheel truck.

Now multiply that number by the trucks you see in one single company. That's
a WHOLE LOT of money.

The "fireworks" Ga sells are NOT worth the money..
They are just noise makers, bottle rockets, or roman candles
