I decided to beat the winter blues by adopting 25 chicks from Meyer Hatchery. I received my order of 26 healthy chicks on 12/20, before the cold snap! So far I have been really pleased with the health and variety of my chicks. This is a photo from earlier this week.

I believe there is at least:

1 Blue Andalusian
3 Buff Brahma
2 Lavendar Orphington
2 Buff Orphington
3 Barred Rock (1 for sure male)
2 Black Australop
1 Golden Laced Wyandotte
2 Wellsummer
4 Silver Laced Wyandotte
6 Mutts (Olive Egger/EE)

I see Sicilian Buttercup parentage in two of the mutts. I also have a yellow/black flecked mutt with unusual feathering, it's almost as if it small white tufts at the ends of it's wing feathers.

I'll post more pictures if anyone wants to help confirm the identity of my brood. :)

Nice assortment.. Do you have a coop already?? They will grow like weeds and you will need a good size brooder for them soon. In about 5 more weeks they will be feathered out well.
WISHING YOU BEST.... and :welcome

haha! Yes. I have a coop and two additional brooder options. I'll transfer the chicks at week three to my garage which has a brooder with a run. It 6 weeks or so, i'll separate the cockrels from the pullets since I use my birds for meat and eggs. I have pics of how I used my brooder setups with my last batch.

My only concern is that it'a so cold here right now that I can't get my birds onto grass like
I did with my late summer group. I'm thinking about starting sprouts.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I am reserving spring and early summer for heritage raising meat birds and the fall and winter for starting pullets. :)

Update on my 26 XMAS chicks. They are 7 weeks old today.

I ended up with:

4 Blue Andalusian (2 pullets, 2 Cockerels) (1 Blk, 2 Splash, 1 Blue)
4 Buff Brahma (unsure of sex)
2 Buff Orphington (2 cockerels)
3 Barred Rock (1 crowing cockerel, 2 pullets)
2 Black Australop (2 pullets, YES!!!)
1 Golden Laced Wyandotte (cockerel)
2 Wellsummer (i think 2 pullets )
4 Silver Laced Wyandotte (unsure of sex)
4 Mutts (Olive Egger/EE) (2 pullets, 2 cockerels)

I have a couple of threads open asking about sex/breed. I appreciate everyone's help and kind words. :)
