(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
This is our first time raising chickens. We have had then 1 wk 1 day

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 32 chicks (lost one 3 days ago)

(3) What breeds do you have?
We are raising meat birds as our gateway into chickens, and we chose the Cornish Cross.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Just searching google for chicken information.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like to garden, quilt and read.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a homeschooling mom to 4 children. We currently only have the chickens as pets.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

Hi! I’m pretty new here myself..and I love it!! The people are friendly and very helpful..There’s so much information and ideas etc on all sorts of poultry/waterfowl, coops, even gardening which is also a passion of mine!! Hope to see ya around on the forums!
P.S. I see your Houston my Daddy lives in Splendora and I got more family around there and in the state..I’m in Ohio, though I’ve lived in Texas a few times..I love Texas would love to move there but no way my man wants to lol..plus most my fam and my kids are here just had my first granddaughter..kinda hard to leave now lol
