I am a new member. I live in utah. I Ann looking for silkie eggs for hatching our silkie chicks. I also would not mind leghorn.

Hi there -and welcome to BYC! You may want to wander over to https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you and find your state's thread so you can network with those around you to find the birds you are searching for. Alternatively, sourcing from hatcheries via mail order is another option.

Ol Grey Mare gave you a great link.

Silkies are a bantam breed - smaller than regular sized chickens, and docile. They tend to get picked on and bullied by larger, more aggressive breeds. Unless they are all raised together from chick-hood - silkies usually do better separated from the other breeds in the flock. You may want to check out the "Silkie Thread," to find out more about this very popular breed.

I have. They would be kept in separate areas. I own alot of land so they would never see eachother.

Hello and
welcome-byc.gif

Silkies are supposed to be awesome brooders so you should have good luck hatching eggs with them. I've never had a Leghorn but they have a reputation for being egg laying machines.

I hope you find what you're looking for.

Thanks for joining us, if you have questions feel free to ask!
