Hi everyone!
I was told to sign up so I can learn and maybe give my chicken friends a break from pecking their brains
I live in Northern California.... way NORTH. A friend gave me 10 chicks and will be hatching some more for me.
I am a first timer and in 24 hrs I am hooked!

My goal is to have enough chickens for eggs and also for meat. I know it is cheaper to buy chicken from the store... but rather know what goes in the chickens than playing the guessing game.

I am looking forward to learning.

Just wanted to give you a big welcome from another newbie (first timer as well...got my babies at the end of April). I still feel like I have so much to learn, but the babies are so much fun. I have my coffee outside with them almost every morning. I was hooked from day 1, too, and have enjoyed watching their individual personalities and quirks develop!

PS Chickens seem to get into the bloodstream quicker than drugs - yes you are addicted from day one. Nothing but enablers here - no one will ever say you have too many chickens.

Just be careful to succumbing to "chicken math." Very few BYC members are immune to it. )
