Hi everyone!
I was told to sign up so I can learn and maybe give my chicken friends a break from pecking their brains
I live in Northern California.... way NORTH. A friend gave me 10 chicks and will be hatching some more for me.
I am a first timer and in 24 hrs I am hooked!

My goal is to have enough chickens for eggs and also for meat. I know it is cheaper to buy chicken from the store... but rather know what goes in the chickens than playing the guessing game.

I am looking forward to learning.

Just wanted to give you a big welcome from another newbie (first timer as well...got my babies at the end of April). I still feel like I have so much to learn, but the babies are so much fun. I have my coffee outside with them almost every morning. :) I was hooked from day 1, too, and have enjoyed watching their individual personalities and quirks develop!

Best wishes!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Yes, nothing better than eating your own home grown eggs and meat. What you buy in the grocery store is always Mystery Meat of some kind.

Definitely stop by our learning center. Lots of good articles on helping you get started.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of chicks did you get?

PS Chickens seem to get into the bloodstream quicker than drugs - yes you are addicted from day one. Nothing but enablers here - no one will ever say you have too many chickens.

Wow... thank you everyone for all the warm welcomes!
I have spent a lot of time reading today. Learning a lot.
I already want more!
