I don't know if they were talking about the foaming wasp spray earlier but it works really well too. The foam sticks them to the nest.

Sorry, DH called neighbors and they are coming to pick some. If you were closer, I would tell you to have at it. Sorry your beans didn't come through for you this year. Maybe next year??

well he just about emptied 2 cans of spray in there then high tailed it in the house.
we will check on it tomorrow

You are right to be afraid! Last summer my kids stepped on a hornets nest in the ground while they were putting up our fence. The hornets (it seemed like 100) chased them across the yard, into the house, through the upstairs, down to the basement, back up again and across the street to the neighbors . . . stinging them all the way. It was awful.

I spotted what I thought was a bird nest in the vinca a couple of years ago. When I pulled back the vine to see- ouch. I'm not fast but I got away with only 3 stings. I called the extension center for help and they advised to just leave it alone till frost. Their other option was to go at night with a large bucket of water and a lid. They said snip it off and get the lid on QUICK. As I said, I'm not fast. I just mowed a little wide and left it alone. It was only 5 feet from my electric meter and about 3 from the path. I didn't have anymore problems.

WOW, I wish I was close to you, I'd come and get the nest & take care of your problem for you. I have a collection of several nice ones. I think they are pieces of art. Its amazing to me, all the work and talent the hornets put into building them. Also if you clear coat them and let them dry they make wonderful conversation pieces !

well he emptied another can into it then put a
towel soaked in lighter fluid on it and set it on
fire lastnight. it is gone now and we are thrilled.
everyone can go out and play again

we really wanted to preserve the hive and keep it but
it just wasnt possible.

This stuff does work wonders and it works best if you spray them right before dusk when they are all back at the nest and resting. Then get close and drench them and the hive/nest. when they are all down hit them again with the spray. good luck on getting your life back.
