I am clueless about what to do about my Silkies who I think may have Gapeworm :(

Well the first hen that we lost had little maggot-like worms in it's mouth so... (They were small and white)

Is that what it would look like is she did have gapeworm? i have no idea :(

Gapeworms are red, stringy parasites, not white wormy things. I'm not sure what your hen with the white maggot-like worms had, but she didn't have gapeworm. Hopefully, members in the Emergencies section can help.

Two good wormers to use either as preventatives, or if your birds did have gapeworms, would be Valbazen or SafeGuard. Avoid Wazine or Ivermectin (two other common wormers), since they are ineffective against most worms.

Thank you so much

As i posted in the emergency post that I created shortly after, we have been able to grab some electrolytes for our chickens since it is very hot right now and we have also grabbed a wormer called aristopet.

We gave them the electrolytes this morning and will give them the aristopet tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

Tam
