I am confused about medicated starter.

We all have those kinds of facts, don't we?

I've found UP/ACV to be 110% effective against all diseases in my flocks...evidence being that I never have any there.

Now I see the difference. You're talking Livestock and we're talking chickens. Anyway making sure there's enough ACV to do a cow some good would sure use up a truckload of the stuff! And if it didn't do you any good, then a waste, at that.

I was under the impression though that ACV was only a part of defense against cocci. That cultured milk products prevent it too.

I thought we were talking about cocci prevention in chickens, not curing an already infected steer or goat.

Chickens can be considered a form of livestock.

Yes, but ruminants are vastly different from chickens. Not to say that ultimately their care doesn't include a lot of the very same practices, depending how you do it, but "livestock" tends to bring up pictures of steer and such to me. Maybe it's just me though.

And I do think that Chris09 was talking about ruminants unless I'm mistaken, even though chickens can be considered livestock.

"I'm sure there are livestock with an overabundance of nasties in them if they were raised in filth, already had a bad infestation, etc. In short, it's overall practice of which ACV is a part, not a magic bullet."

I was talking about all forms of livestock but mainly poultry and ruminants.

I am feeding my chicks purina medicated feed and I asked the knowledgable chicken person at the feed store if I should switch to developer feed and she told me they should eat the medicated chick feed until 18 weeks old.
