You never know who your dealing with on eBay. Sticking with BYC is a good idea.
I can't stand people who try to sue and do this kind of stuff just to get the money, even if there's not a good reason to do it.

So sorry you had to go through this. Unbelievable that someone would try to scam another blessed person. Or be unwilling to negotiate.

What I DO wish ebay had was an option to give feedback after the eggs have had a chance to incubate for just a little while, to say if the eggs were fertile or not. I am pretty sure the last batch of eggs I bought were from someone who doesnt own a rooster- or their rooster is not with their hens. Not a single one was fertile. Too late, i already gave her great feedback on the eggs and extras arriving unbroken.

Happened to me too recently. Blah.

ETA: I'd only complain if more than a small percentage were non-fertile...nature doesn't always follow our desires and I don't expect perfect, fertile eggs 100% of the time....

Yeah, it was frustrating...especially when I sent her 3 extras and never saw pictures...

I had someone a few years ago here on BYC that claimed none were fertile and I sent them a second batch AND refunded some of their month. They then posted pictures of the candled eggs (MY eggs) with developing babies (from the FIRST batch)!

I even had a friend on here reply to the post and ask where they got these eggs--I knew they were from me because at the time, I was one of only a handful of people breeding these chickens...their reply, "Rare Feathers Farm!"

I was sooo p*ssed! I went ahead and replied to the post and called them out on it....never did respond...eventually, the thread was abandoned but I still was upset. The every next spring, this person was selling the same breed here and on BYC, using MY name to promote the line of birds. Not only that, but they were under-cutting my prices (selling more eggs for about 50% of the price). It forced me to get rid of that breed because soon, the internet was overrun with these birds and now, they're $9.99 for a dozen.

I haven't read all the way through yet, but just wanted to say that PayPal will not cover live animals. I don't know if eggs are included in this or not, but if it does and you tell PayPal they should side with you.

I've heard that happening a lot. Like I said before, my PO sucks monkey toes. I got eggs last week and they were shoved under my grand daughter's bench on the front porch. I just happened to see something that night and looked to see what else she left under there. There's always toys or notebooks or something laying out there. Luckily they were packaged really well. I just can't see through them to see if I have decent aircells. I can only do what I need to do to get them to hatch. I used to get really good hatches from shipped eggs. The past 2 years, I'm lucky if I get one or 2 to hatch from a shipment. But I keep ordering like a ding dong, so shame on me. LOL


I've had people send me replacement eggs. I never asked for them, well maybe from the order I got that they were not just broken, but short. But you take a chance when you order through the mail. I do expect them to be wrapped well, but when you can tell they put work into packing the only thing you can really complain about is if they weren't fertile to begin with. And sometimes the way bozes show up, you just know there's no hope, but I try anyway. It's a shame how they treat mail, then complain about not having enough business and raising rates just so they can keep abusing the packages.

Sorry, should have explained that better. They will not give refunds to buyers for live animals. I am more active in reptiles and there was a man who was scamming people. He sold the same animal to multiple people. He got around $500 for the animal (it was a crested gecko), and I think five or six people bought and payed for this gecko. There were other geckos too, that he did the same thing with, they cost less but still over $200 each. Since this gecko was well known the buyers were exited and talking about the new gecko they would be getting. To cut to the chase, when they tried to get the money back through paypal (that is how they paid), Paypal refused the refunds stating that they will not cover live animal deals. Basically the buyers had to eat it, even though they were scammed. I have also heard the same thing with people bought an animal and it was DOA, Paypal refused to refund the money because it was an animal.

Herps, huh? I used to breed bearded dragons (hypomelanstic). I also used to breed Veiled & Jackson's Chameleons, tegus, frilled lizards, Uros and tortoises. If you think hatching chickens is horrible--try 6+ months waiting on baby tortoises! LOL
