I had no idea I would come to love my chickens. I mean, they are chickens. What's to like so much?

Wow. They each have their own personalities, for one thing. Not a collective consciousness (although there IS some flock mentality) like, well, ants or something.

The bright eye in a head cocked to one side to look up at me, coupled with an interrogative "Bok?" did it. Sure, the chicks were/are adorable, but when a grown up chicken holds a conversation with you, how can you NOT like her (or him)?
