I AM FINALLY DONE WITH MY BREEDING FLOCK (S)!!! WOW WHAT DID I DO!!!

I do have a few extra roos in each breed has! This list does not include all of my young roos growing up just the adults. My feed bill is high but I sell so many chicks and hatching eggs it all works out and I enjoy every moment of it. We actually started this many years ago as a hobby and sold chicks locally. My wife lost her job and wanted to be home so I invested heavily into these birds which now both of us are doing full time as my business is in the tank. I feel its a blessing from about and a life I wouldnt exchange for anything.

The other question my favorite breed has to be.....whew wow im not really sure to be honest with you. Guess I would have to go with my Blue laced red wyandottes or the marans. The blue laced are HUGE and very gentle. The marans are relaxed as well except the silver marans which just are spastic. The marans lay dark eggs which are fun to pick up and the blue laced are different shades. One lays the most pink egg with white specks all threw it. By the way if anyone this year is looking for hatching eggs let me know! Thanks everyone for your compliments and please dont think im tooooo crazy

That is a nice flock!
When you bred them these past years what have you had in mind? egg production, genetics, temperament?
i would love to know more of your experience and effort.

thanks!

thanks yall and we are in cumberland, va just an hour west of richmond. Dead center of virginia actually! We started with breeds we enjoy and went from there. Wanted rare birds for the most part and wanted to help others be able to get them along with obviously making some money for the work we have put into it. not going to lie about that! Marans are so hard to find and are large beautiful birds, and for the most part very calm. I think the most important thing is to raise what you would want in your own back yard and its easier to share with people wanting eggs, chicks, adults. If you have breeds you dont like you wont pay as much attention to them which isnt fair to the birds or you. It is alot of work but wouldnt want to be doing anything else

Will you sell and ship chicks this year? I've just had such iffy luck with eggs this year that I am ready to just buy chicks instead. They end up being cheaper in the long run this year.....
