Doctors have no idea how much medications cost. I was talking to my own doctor's husband (who is also a physician) about a presciption is wife gave me that almost bankrupted me. He told me I should have called her to see if there was something else she could prescribe that would work. He also told me he was floored the last time he had to have a prescription filled for himself when he was sick.

I have no medical insurance at all. If I get sick, I get sick. I cant even see a doc. Cant afford it. I cant get state funded medical because they only insure kids or pregnant women, and I can no longer have babies. Or if your fatally sick. So that leaves me out..

The last time I got a bad bad infection.. When I actually ask to see a doc you know that Im real real sick. But I still didnt go. I got desperate.. Dont you all shot me down.. But I just took some left over antibiotics from my pet. Yes it was a risk. But I couldnt breath, and it helped.

I know what the guy is going through. Sure hope he finds a way to get his meds. Or finds a way to cure it some other way.. I will keep him in my thoughts.

My sister's three kids and her husband all got sick at the same time. Simple stuff like earl infection and bronchitis. They have insurance, but by the time they were done paying at the pharmacy my sister had no money to buy food for her family and it had just been payday. That's sad.

I rarely think about medical expenses because my husband is military. But I hear stuff like this and I am SO greatful for the coverage we have.

HOLY MACKEREL! My friend, who has cancer, pays $300.00 for just one pill to control the nausea from her cemo. (or is it kemo?) And I thought that was bad.......but $2400? OUTRAGEOUS!

What a depressing thread. It's good to have threads like this though. It lets people see what less fortunate people have to deal with.

That must be a pretty unique infection. I hope the OP can get some kind of help.

Good Luck

I'll stick to blue, thank you. The article you posted had me crying big crocodile tears for the health insurers though. Only allowed to make a 20% profit. That's why our health care system is so messed up. The profit should be 0%. It shouldn't be a business. People in the business of administering health care should get a fair salary. It's just pushing paper. No genius at work.

The providers are a different story.
