I Am Flabbergasted!!!!!!!!! Prescription Cost....

I would tell the guy to call his doctor and ask if there is an antibiotic that would do the same job for less. From the little bit of reading that I've done, it sounds like they went straight to the vancocin, when there is a cheaper antibiotic that is usually the first resort drug for this issue. Getting some good quality yogurt, and eating lots of it would help rebalance the guy's gut flora; something I always start as soon as I start any antibiotic.

You might ask his doctor if he can prescribe him Metronidazole which is commonly known as Flagyl it would be cheaper same results. Also he needs to get probotics back in his system through live active yougurt or a probotic drink like Kefir milk.

All I can say is that we had better do EVERYTHING we can to stay healthy. We can't trash our bodies (as a society) and then want a pill to correct years of unhealthy living.

He needs an intestinal flora transplant from a close family member. I won't go into the details, look it up. It can be done at home for no cost.

Lost of prescriptions are skyrocketing. My mother's Remicade infusions had to be pre-certed through insurance before we started, they run $11 THOUSAND per infusion, and she gets an infusion EVERY SIX WEEKS.

I know it is hard, but please keep the politics out of this thread.

If we get more reports, we will close it again and it won't be reopened

My mom had a serious gut infection and her script cost was about $200-400.She took meds for 2 months. I hope he can get an alternative.I could not imagine paying that much for a med. I would try other meds first and add some probiotics to the diet like kefirs and stuff. Wow and I thought my dh's $200 diabetes meds were a lot!

How can the Pharmacist just knock $400 off ? aren't the prices regulated? never mind, doesn't really matter

Try looking into the mailorder from Canada, should be cheaper. Lots of our American friends buy their meds from Canada because it is cheaper. Most Canadian mailorder pharmacies accept US prescriptions and ship to the USA. Might be Generic brand though.

My sister-in-law took this http://www.giprohealth.com/saccharomycesboulardii.aspx in conjunction with her RX Meds for her severe intestinal infection. It was so severe it ate a hole in her intestinal tract. She picked up something nasty while working overseas for Doctors without Borders.
