Right now I am going to give my hens some cayanne pepper...24 weeks and no eggs is drivin me crazy...I'll let you know how it goes!

Cayenne will make them lay? I know it's a wonder drug but that I hadn't heard before. What else do you do for them? Do they range? What do you feed them? Do they have enough light? What kind are they? How many of them? Are they stressed- little kids making noise, chasing them? Dogs? Predators? A bully? If they aren't ready, you can't make them. . .

I've never heard of Cayenne Pepper making chickens lay...

Go to the store and buy some eggs - then they will lay.

I have a RIR, SLW, and an EE. they rarely get to free range. Nothing stressful in their lives...My RIR has the bigest comb and wattles...they are a deep pink. My SLW has very little comb, medium wattles. Her face and wattles are red, but her comb isnt. My EE has no color at all

Wives tale, just give them time and they will lay. Watch out for hiding spots and such, but they can lay anywhere between 20 weeks and 8 months old!!! So just let their bodies mature. The later they start, the more developed they will be, and healthier in the long run.

They'll lay when mature enough to lay. Patience, grasshopper.

Well six months is about the earliest you can expect an egg. Some hens like to take longer. Sometimes when I buy new birds and they "forget" their job after the move, I will but a real egg or a golf ball in the nest so they "remember".
