Hmmm...

She can catch the cat.

She can put the collar on it.

But...if that cat is as mean as it appears to be she's gonna have a tough time letting go of it! OUCH!!!!!!!!

So sorry about the situation you are in.
Going through the landlord may be your best bet....My inlaws have rental property and they have to keep insurance. I don't know if it would cover something like this but I would think so. I do know homeowners insurance covers pets biting people or other animals but dont know if it applys to those renting the home but it may be worth checking into.
As far as the CSF, my brother had it and the symptoms start out similar to mono. Swollen gland, tired (more than usual), slack in appitite(sp?), and these will come and go but gradually worsen with each episode. If csf is a concern they will put you antibiotics and possibly a low dose steriod for the swollen glands.
I wouldn't panic, Pay attention to o your body and if you notice any symptoms have it checked.
In the mean time, get a calandar and start doccumenting EVERYTHING, all phone call to AC,police, neighbors,etc...
take pics of bites and if possible the cat in your yard.
Make sure the kids know how to throw BIG rocks and work on their aim...LOL... no, seriously, though, don't scare them but be sure they know to stay away,, and don't run if it chases. Teach them how scare back, if that don't work, go for that rock...
Good luck, and hope it all works out well.
Most of all, if you let it drive you nuts it will... You are in charge! Stay in control!

I don't know about you, but where I am from the vet I work for once told me:

"Legally, if an animal is on your property and has NO identification you are allowed to bring it to a shelter."
I would set out a 'hav-a-hart' trap w/ some tuna bait and then bring the thing to the shelter. Say it attacked your pets and sctarched you. You cannot get in trouble.
seriously if the kids are hurling it off the porch there is a reason it is mean and frankly would be better off in a shelter.

OH! and you may not have been bitten but your bunny WAS...make sure he doesnt come down w/ symptoms of rabies.... Its probable the cat does NOT have rabies, but cat's carry LOADS of deadly bactrium in their saliva and claws (as we all have been blaring about.)
At the vets the animal control was always bringing dead animals(raccons) to us so we could decapitate them and ship their heads to a lab for rabies testing...thats how they test for rabies in wild animals.

Trap the cat in a hav-a-hart so you dont have to touch it. throw a towel over the cage and lug it to the shelter!!! Then you will be done with it for good! and maybe if its friendly enough it will get put in a better home. (if not at least it doesnt have to live in an abusive home anymore).

good luck

I've been at a funeral all day, just got in and very quickly scanned the posts so may have missed mention of treatment for bunny. Hopefully by now your bunny is on meds? If he has still not received antibiotics you may well lose him, and/or he'll suffer a lot trying to recover once very infected. The bacteria in cat saliva works fast and it waits for no one. Hope all will be well.

Cats that aren't sick attack people. They're just mean sometimes, plus the cat's hunting instincts were active from the bunny-hunting meaning it would be even more likely to attack something interfering with what it views as a meal. Walk up to an eating lion, see what happens lol. House cats are the same thing, just smaller.
Just remember a can of tuna and a live trap go a long way. I'm sure it'd make someone a good mouse-killer. If you decide to take it to a shelter. Clean all wounds as best as you can on yourself and the bunny. Don't even tell the neighbors, just get rid of it. If they ask, you "haven't seen it for a few days thank god!"

They don't seem caring enough to notice.

I was bitten a while back by a cat (she was mine)so I knew her history. She just did not want to go into a pet taxi. This is just for future reference, I was told to not stop the bleeding for a short time because cat bites are deep and bacteria filled, the blood helps flush out the wound.
