Welcome to Backyard Chickens you took the right step here now look at the breed sections then coop sections but your on the right track

Australorps are good egg layers.
Build a coop with at least 4 sq. feet per bird.
And...build a coop before you get chicks.

As @Pork Pie Ken, @penny1960, and @KikisGirls suggested, there are a lot of resources on the site to look through. The first question you're going to have to answer, though, is how many chickens you want (that might depend on what your local government allows, depending on where you live). Then you can start narrowing down your coop needs.

If you add your general location on to your profile, we might be able to give you tips that would work for your area. I found out through personal experience keeping a flock in FL is different than keeping one in WY.

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. I'm sure you'll be able to find just about any answer you need regarding chickens & their care & housing. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me :old will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
 
I would start by checking with your local government to find out if there are any restrictions you should be aware of. Number of birds, size/location of coop/shed which usually counts as an "accessory structure" are things that may be specified. Once you know how many birds you can have or are planning for, you can start planning your coop! Exciting times.
