I think I sold my house and I don't know what to do with Lisa Marie Gladys and Priscilla my beautiful TCB girls
Buyers want them.
They seem like very great people there military and I have confidence that they're going to treat the girls like I treat them. As pets.
The chickens are on almost 2 acres they have free roam of the entire property.
there are four of them and they've been together their whole lives.
Just the 4 of them.
So I can leave them with the new buyers and the only thing different for the chickens is me.
I won't be there anymore.
I will be replaced.
Or are they better off in a much more confined area with me which is most likely where I would have to be going to a smaller backyard
Do Chickens get attached or are they better off and will they be happier if they stay where they are?
Looking forward to your thoughts?

That's a tough choice. If they will be equally fine at either location, would you want them with you? If you treat them like pets you will notice a huge difference for you if you leave them behind. Best of luck.

I think chickens would appreciate not being moved out of their home. We hope to move in the next year and since it is 2000 mi away, I hope our buyers want our chickens and they can stay put....

I'd keep the chickens. I really don't think they'd mind a smaller area. My first ever chickens came to me from a much bigger space, and they adjusted fine to my smaller urban yard. If you are attached to them, keep them :)

I agree, my chickens, they too came from a very big farm to my house which is in a city. If you love them and think you'd miss them than I'd take them with you.

The chickens are going to experience a significant change in their lives. Either they stay with the human they know and trust and move to a new place, or they stay in the place they've always known and a stranger replaces their human. If it were me, I would keep the chickens with me. They'll get to know the new place and it'll be home for them before too much time passes.

Truthfully if YOU want them then keep them.

Chickens don't like change, but will hardly notice that you are gone if the other people feed them. A change of surroundings, climate, altitude are much bigger changes in their world. Beware of giving them people emotions, or making yourself feel guilty for leaving them. It really won't be that hard on them, much harder on you.

As I said, if you want them, and can have them, they will adjust to new surroundings. They will also quickly adjust to someone else.

Since you consider them pets, I would say take them with you, as long as you know you can have chickens at your new residence (otherwise I'd "rehome" them with this family if they really did want to keep them). I just couldn't leave a pet behind unless I knew it was impossible to keep them. Last time I made a big move we drove up the West coast with 2 dogs, a hamster, 8 male betta fish, and even my favorite houseplant, in a compact sedan. That was fun.
