Hello Chicken Lovers!
For me, ANY animal is like Lays Potato Chips....But holy smokes! I had no idea with chickens it's more like : "You can't have just one FLOCK!"
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first order of chickies on June 21 of this year (2017). I have been wanting to have chickens ever since we bought 5 acres in Temecula, Ca. My Mother passed away somewhat suddenly (diagnosed in December and gone by April) and I get my love of animals from her. 2 days before her funeral, a mallard duck left 12 waterlogged babies in my pool. I saved them OF COURSE (I know know my mom left them for me! lol). I built a giant enclosure for them (It was great for keeping my mind and heart busy while mourning) and decided to just go ahead and start the chickens, and now I like them better than the ducks (Shhh!).
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
10 - 13 week olds
2 - 4 week olds
15 - under a week
(3) What breeds do you have?
Oh boy...I love variety, so here goes nothing (let's see if I can remember everyone without cheating. LOL!)

I have too many animals for hobbies.....wait, I guess they ARE my hobbies???
Also I love camping, sea-dooing and gardening.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We own and run Care Facilities and Treatment Centers for adults with mental illness and/or brain injuries. I have a 10 year old daughter (who is SURELY going to end up being a vet!) and a 7 year old son. Like I said, we have 5 acres in De Luz and on it we keep:
2 Paint Horses
3 Nigerian Dwarf Goats
Chickens (of course)
7 girl ducks (Buff, Cayuga, Fawn and White Runner, Rouen, and 3 Blue Swedish)
1 remaining boy Mallard who decided to stay
3 Dogs (Aussie, Mini Aussie and Sheltie)
3 cats
2 Ferrets
2 Guinea Pigs
I'm looking forward to meeting many of you and tapping into your brains!
