Be cautious and always wash hands therally after handling any birds. I don’t have experience in the area your referring to, but mange has been ramped threw out the US. Most of the wild canine in my area had it last year. They become weak and start look closer to houses for food. Does anyone know if chickens can get mange? I know there are other mites that inffect chickens. Try dusting her. Good luck to you.

first the fuzz around the eye isn't hair but just chick down

and do put something even Vicks on the spot and do not get it in its eye

the best thing would be to buy some
VETRX and put it on the area and if it is a mite condition the Vetrx would smother it as Vetrx is a oil solution

you would put the vetrx all over the head and in the eye
and rub it in daily
also under the wings
and give 1/2 tsp down the throat

however till you get this Vetrx try and
keep some kind of oil on the spot
olive oil will work

IN the mean time, what feed are you feeding the babies? I hope it's medicated (with amprolium, nothing else) "starter" feed?

Do you need any help with their brooding, etc? How old are your babies?

I wouldn't dust her - she's too young and there's not yet any evidence of mites. But you can check her carefully along her skin and see if you see any moving dots. This is a good thing for you to do no less than monthly for the rest of their lives. Picking them up weekly or montly allows you to monitor their weight and catch problems before they get too far. That way you can also see if they have parasites (mites, etc), any lumps or bumps, are too heavy in their abdomen, are breathing funny, etc.

Prevention really is the biggest part of poultry keeping.
