should I just return this? I am building the coop inside our chainlink fence backyard.
Maybe I can double it and use it on the windows and the top of the run?

If you are using this along with chain link fencing then you will be ok. But if you are going to use this as the only barrier, it can be chewed thru. I use this stuff on top of chain link for my quail aviaries and have never had any issues.

Hardware cloth is the way to go if you want to use wire as a barrier. It comes in rolls like the stuff you have here, but in 1/4 and 1/2 inch squares and with a thick gauge. It is very durable and nothing can get thru it. I use so much of it around here, you might be able to see this place from space!

any reason why I shouldn't paint their toe nails different colors for identification? We want to name them but they look so much alike!
 
Yeah.. I thought about that. Debated whether or not they would really attack their own feet much. Then wondered how much it would hurt anyway since they peck everything.
Better ideas for identification? I saw some people put food coloring on their head..
