I am no Longer a Serial Quail Killer!!!!!!

My last hatch found me almost in tears after grand daughter played with temp control and fried my eggs. I left them in there to make sure none hatched. Day 20 I threw them out.

Convinced to do better with the next hatch I took a couple of days tinkering around and added a fan, sponges, etc to my 'bator.

I am now on day 16 of my incubaton of the lil quail. Wish me luck... we'll see if I killed this batch!

Good luck with your quail hatch! I have three young kids and it was tough making sure they didn't play with the bator every time my back was turned! They still got into it a couple times. Once, they even stuffed the entire four foot length of tubing in through the vent hole before getting caught.

Keep trying! It's even more exciting making sure they don't open the bator the minute you have a few quail hatch out.

Yeah, I've got the bator on a cement floor locked up in the spare bedroom right now. Brooklynn also decided to play egg stomp

Needless to say, my daughter wasn't happy to have to clean up yolk from all over.... Oh well, children are a blessing

And on another related note, set up 3 live traps for those stupid racoons that have been killing my quail. ACK!

I'm wishing you lots and LOTS of luck! I'm so sorry to hear of your last loss. Let us know how the new quail are when they pop out!

Good luck also catching that pesky raccoon. Those things are such a pain!

Oh man. That's rough. -- Good luck with this bunch!! I may have accidentally fried my quail too.

The temperature spiked up to 102 last night. But they are in the Hova, and it's still air. So... I'm letting them go until day 19-20, just to be sure.

They should be ok at 102 in a still air me thinks. Don't You usually add a degree to a degree and a half for still air vs. forced air anyways?
