Day 21
IMG_0396.jpg

Some observations: a brooder got very crowded with 'older' chicks, new chicks, egg shells and eggs all over.
I had to remove 8 chicks that were dry. I thought the cover was up for only a few seconds, but I suffocated (shrink wraped) two eggs in the process

So, what should I do in the future? Put fewer eggs? I put 28, incubator capacity 41.

Let all of them run around for over 48 hours on top of each other?

Other than two casualties, seems like everyone is almost hatched. There are two prospective eggs there still. Tomorrow is day 22.

Looked like the membrane was not broken, so the chicken suffocated inside it. The shell was somewhat broken.

I read here that this happens if there is a drop in temperature/humidity. My ambient humidity is 70%, not sure what was inside the bator, but the look out windows were steamed because of so many wet chickens, I presume.

Temperature droped to room temperature, 80F. It took about half an hour, maybe longer to get back to 99.5.
