I'm sorry but dogs are not objects that we can decide works for us one minute but not the next minute. It seems the dog worked at one time in your nephews life but the minute it didn't he passed the dog off to you. This is totally unacceptable behavior. I tell people often that if you can not take care of a animal for its lifespand than don't get it.

Before I found my house I have now I needed a place to live. The only place I found that would accept my dogs was a real dump. Calling this place a dump was being nice. Anyway since I wasn't willing to get rid of my dogs I moved into the dump but I still have my dogs with me at my house I own now.

If your nephew really cared for this dog he would have made it work. Keep the dog.

Did he ever visit Bruiser? or inquire about him? Won't he care that his cousins will be crushed as well?

seems like you were nice enough to not interfere with your nephew's personal life as far as passing judgement on his gf/wife to begin with. Some consideration on his part is now in order.

I am sorry you have to go through this. My mom had me watch her cat once for a month and when he went back home I was devistated. Then she felt bad and now he is my cat. He was a stray that they had named and he was living in the sunporch. Now he has a big home (not a little porch) and we are all happy.

Sorry, I think nephew is irresponsible. It's obvious that you have a kind heart and nephew is a "user." He needs a good scolding, IMO.
