I am so happy about what heppened today...

I love love love wood ducks so today even tho it was cold and nasty i walked around my big pond... just too see if there was any eggs or something from my ducks...and we also have a pond below the top pond i guess you would say the top one spills into the bottom one...ANYWAY!!! I was walking and just looking and I happened to look at the bottom pond and WOW 2 wood ducks a male and female... WOW I am soo happy I love wood ducks wish I had some of my own as pets!! I am soo happy

They are the most attractive wild ducks. Wonder why mallards get all the attention? Because they are the forefather of domesticated ducks maybe?

We had a pair call our pond home for a while too, but I haven't seen them in a couple weeks, just mallards

Oh they are so fascinating!!! I will deff try and get pictures... apparently my ducks are calling them up.. because the other day I had 4 different kinds of wild ducks land on the pond... they were not wood ducks because as soon as they seen me they took off the wood ducks did not.. they just kinda watched me and then went into the thicket! I love them I hope they stay...

We have lots of wood ducks here...I live on a bayou. We have nesting boxes set up & they're beautiful to watch!
