I am SO mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so we have 2 chicks that are about 3 weeks old; 1 BO and 1 RIR. So my mom and my sisiter are under the impression that they need to be outside more and the sun probably burns their eyes because they are in the barn so much. So I explained to them that I do take them outside everyday for 20 minutes, and they are still babies who need the warmth of the heat lamp in the barn. So my little sister totally ignores me and leans a bunch of scrap chicken wire and rocks around an old dog house with a bunch of spider webs in it. I tried to reason with them, but my mom said to stay away from my sister and to stop trying to get my way!

I swear, our dogs are going to gobble those babies up in a blink of an eye!!

Why is everyone against me? They are my chicks after all, and I am the only one that knows anything about them!!!!! I am so mad, at least when they get ripped apart by the dogs thay will know I was right!

I am so sorry to hear about your problem. Maybe you could explain in more detail to your Mom that you are doing the right thing for the chicks. Good luck.

Maybe you can figure out a way to make them a pen outside. At 3 weeks I let my babies out of their brooder, which is outdoors, and they go in to the heat and out to the grass on their own free will. Some days they spend more time inside than out, but that's probably because I open the doors when it's still in the mid 40's during the day and it rains a lot.

My dad finally came home from Home Depot, and he put them back in the barn. I know it is good for them to spend time outdoors, but until my dad bulds a pen that can keep the dogs out, they only get to come out with me.
