I am so upset!!!

Today is day 24 for some of our eggs> I was going to throw the oldest ones out today one of the shells was getting streaks on it and looked like it may be rotten. Much to my surprise this morning I noticed a tiny hole in it and it is moving around some of the others are starting to move guess it just takes longer than we thought. Patience is a virtrue!

Hi everyone i am neww here. What i usually do when i am hatching eggs. I watch for the ones that have peep holes and wait till they have came out and let them dry. Then I move the baby chicks to the Brooder. The next morning check the eggs for any peep holes if no peep holes then i take the rest of the eggs outside and help crack open to see if their is any baby chicks or dudes. if there is baby chicks put back in the incubator let the eggs warm back up and then help the chicks out of the eggs or they will die if still in the egg shells.

My guess is that it pipped and then turned breech afterwards... Only the egg tooth can puncture the egg.... Am I wrong???

i jad one that pipped and i left it to do it's thing, when 2 days later it hadn't done anything else i peeled it back to find that it's "elbow" had pipped the shell, and that it was too big in the shell to even get it's head out from under it's wing to attempt to pip... so yes, other body parts can break through....

I've had two this hatch that pipped and died. The first one pipped on day 18 and was bleeding out of the pip.. I posted about this already. That chick didn't make it. The second one pipped day 19....10 chicks hatched.. but this pip was still just a hole. Its now 4 am on day 21 and for some reason I felt the need to get up and check on the eggs still in the incubator. The hole is still the same size. So I also ignored "lock down" and grabbed the egg out. The chick was dead inside.

Now let me back track. These eggs were shipped and for some reason ended up with very large air cells taking up 1/2 of the egg. I would have thought this was a problem with my humidity but I had eggs from another source in there that had normal air cells.

The chick was small compared to the size of the egg. I wonder if the egg was too big and it couldnt get any leverage to break out? Anyway, I have one more egg left that looks like it has a chick in it. Its just now day 21 so I'm going to leave it be for now. I also have 6 eggs in there that I think have nothing in them.. but since they are dark shell eggs I'm just going to leave them in.

Well, I have 11 happy chicks right now so I'm not going to be too upset.
