You might want to buy some "BEAR MACE" and keep it on you when you are outside. Black bears can be very dangerous, don't underestimate them. Ah, and it will be back,unless it is migrating. Try ebay stores for mace. I carry some when working on property or riding along with a million volt stun gun(not tazer) but as a last resort , dogs, bears, evil men, etc.

We live in a part of Maryland not known to have bears. A few years back a bear that had been tagged twice and was considered a nuisiance showed up in people's back yards. No officials would remove the bear even though it tagged a nuisance and in an area that has no bears. Finally a guy shot the bear in his backyard (he lived in town). There was a big stink over that but I don't know if he got into trouble in the end.

Good luck. I have friends that live in western MD (bear country) and they are quite dangerous and destructive once they lose the fear of being around people. My friends have to bleach their boat to remove any smell of fish so that bears don't shred it.

Keep us informed. Also, let people (officials and local news) know. That way others will be prepared also. If he's not in your backyard, he's in someone elses. Someone will "take care" of it.

oh no not again, honey you need to get a big shot gun and just shoot them. After your last attack no one could say that you dont fear for your saftey. Shoot it dead and then call the athorities to take it away, since they dont seem to do their job around where you live.

You could shoot it, then scratch yourself up some and say it attacked you... not too honest, but they make less of a stink if theres human defense involved...

wow, and i thought opposums attacking my chickens was bad!! That has to be soo scary. I would get the paintball gun like that on person suggested. Frozen paintballs hurt! But at the same time I dont know if you should be aggrivating a bear!! And if it has tags, I would definitely call fish and game. Even if it didnt have tags, the proper athorities should be notified so other people arent in danger. Hang in there! Let us know how it turns out.

A little bear story.

The other day a friend was telling me about a bear that got into a woman’s car and could not get out. She reported it to the police. As the police stood around and watched…..because the bear was really upset.

One of the officers called the woman on her cell phone to tell her that the bear was trying to get out of her sunroof. She told him she did not have a sunroof.

ELECTRIC FENCE!!!!! Strong Electric fence!!! You can get solar chargers if you don't have power at your coop.

We use them to save our beehives from bears.
