Churkenduse, sounds like it is time for you to take a roadtrip. Spend a couple weeks just driving around checking the various areas out. That would be a really good way of getting a better feel for different communities. Even just a week if that's all you can spare.

Good luck,

Pat

I lived in nashville for 40 years.. i loved it. something every where for everyone.
its very city... but many little side areas that are fun. Donelson was my favorite place.. a small out side city Is Murfreesboro, Lavergne, just about as grand as it gets. dont expect DSL. places get it and a block away cant. ???
Quiet, country and very close to Nashville. I do so love Nashville, Mt Juliet, just outside of it..and Gallatin is a wonderful place still close to nashville.
A few years ago Nashivlle hired a school director from mexico or somewhere like it and how they couldnt see that it would not work, I dont know.. now they are paying him a tremendous amount of money to go home.. go figure..but they did the same with the police chief.. it worked that time. got rid of the "old buddy" "neice of mine needs a job" type of mentality. Taken police Dept to a new level.
Schools are plentiful, but Im so thankful that part of life is over. Several private schools that are grand..
There is a small community outside of Nashville, In Gladeville, that is still very quiet well i forgot the big time race car thing came there... it was a grand place.. on a rock..cant dig a hole more than 2 inches deep but you know what they say about the wise man who built his house upon a rock.. very religious part of world. just keep quiet ...
Interstate I40 has much to see and appreciate as you drive W .. many acres of beatuful trees and many small Mountain like areas where privacy is abundant.
The laws change in this area. The rules change. dont expect things to make sence.. buy an old house trailer and throw tires on top of it to hold it down and stop the wind from making that noise. Teach your kids to cook Meth and you will have a good life there.. (hickman county). no other means of income that ive seen.
marry your cousin and that gets you in with the whole area.. forget about dental appointments, dental floss or tooth paste.. you want to fit in you know.. and get as fat as you can.. make friends no one wants a friend that is skinny.
get a scanner and listen in to everyones phone conversations.. always keep up with the n eighbors and see what they find interesting. Remember that your trash is going to be public property and gone over like a microscope when you take it to the dump.. and everyone in town will know what brand of kotex you use or dont use..
enjoy the smell of your neighbors lack of septic tanks..and enjoy their dogs.. someone has got to feed them.. might as well be you. and give them medicine for mange and fleas. so they are tied up down the road from their home.. you can get close enough to give them water and food.
and untangle th em from their chain. if you find a good pill to give them to get them out of that misery and will do it fast and with no pain or sickness let me know..
tied up to a four foot chain or in a kennel with feet full of feces and no water or food or weather protection.. speak up and you wil be black balled for not minding your own business.
the social scene is at the funeral home a meeting place for all that s the only time you see anyone with shoes on. a line is set for the death notice on the phone and its used every day by the locals.. finding out who died last night is the news of the day....
good l uck..whew im glad that im old and dont hve to worry abut that for much longer..

I think I will stay as far from you and your family as I possibly can. :thun

I do not listen to phone coversations, I do not feed others' dogs or medicate them I do not use kotex, and will not live in a trailer.

I happen to be a normal human who wants to live and let live and that is not what yur note says about you.

I did not say that this is my life style.. i said this is what you will find. I dont know that tennessee has a lock on these life syles but it certainly is here.
Ive been shocked and dismayed.. cried my eyes out over the attitude on the treatment of dogs and cats.. i stole one once and took it to the vet and foolishy took it back home.. it died.
lack of care for hygeine is unbelievable. going to walmart in pajamas or half dressed and nasty is common practice. Im shocked every visit.
spitting tobacco juice on the flloors is not unheard of..
dumping dogs and cats on the side of the road is general practice.. ive rescured so many i cant even count them.
its what you do to them around here.. "they are just dogs" is what you will hear when you complain.
no houses for animals.. i called animal place because near my home is a dog tied up in the middle of the yard.. no house no signs of water no signs of food.. laying there in the hot sun.. cold n ight and animal man called me and said compared to most that dog as a good place..and could do nothing for it.
flea drops and mange medicine is not on the food stamp program. not used. i take a bottle of flea spray with me use it often when i find a stray that needs it.
i bring home a stray from walmart just about every trip.. makes me dread going.
its the choice place to dump animals .. give s them a chance to find a good home ive heard.
this is not my lifestyle but what i found when i moved here.. and im going broke trying to help. close your eyes and you wont know.. close your ears and it wont bother you.. i stay home 99 percent of the time to avoid the things i cant change..
im not a bad person..please dont put me down for voicing what i see and cant do a thing about.. i change what i can.. i feed em i medicate them.. i love them and my yard is full of them to prove my intentions.. there people many of them just takea this life style as normal and most of them cant do a thing abaout it as myself.. there are no jobs.. no social activities nothing to do but ache for what life becomes in these back wood places.
and i have not even started on the treatment of the kids and the babies..the babies lying in filth and feces green snotty noses... rashes of all kinds the scabs in the baby's eyes.. the smell of the baby.. oh my god........
the hungry look in their eyes.. lack of nutrition.. gotta buy beer and cigaretttes you know...and dental care.??? out of the question..bloody gums are common..
kick me and say ugly th igns to me and it will ch angae this.. come on get some of me.. a common saying around here..

After receiving several reports about this thread and reading it for myself, I think it's about time to put an end to it. Thank you for your participation.
Churkenduse, I know you'll find a great place to live in Tennessee. I owned property there and built a cabin on a beautiful pond in Fentress County. There are many, very affordable places to live there still, unlike some areas of the country.
