Lucky you, I love Tenn. it's mine and DH dream to retire there. Moonwalker Sevierville and Townsend are my favorite parts of Tenn. I love Cades Cove

I am so sorry about that, no one should be so unhappy with their state.

East Tennessee

That is where I am looking

Does that include Oak Ridge, Cleveland and Chattanooga?

Thanks for the great tips. I will try the classifieds. I looked at Cent 21. They don't tell annual tax, that is important.

I live in Polk Co. in East Tn. We are about 45 miles from Chattanooga and 15 miles from Cleveland. I was born and raised in Cleveland and it is an excellent city. Contrary to what some say Cleveland has excellent schools, and hometown values, just a great place! Where I live in Polk Co. we have lots of national forest land, 3 beautiful rivers, including the world class Ocoee River, where the olympics were held(whitewater rafting). Home prices are good compared to alot of places, altho we have alot of Florida and northern people moving up to our mountains now and prices are rising. I love Tn. and think it is the most beautiful place on earth, of course I am a little bias:)

Try looking up Sevier, Knox, Jefferson, Hamblen, Anderson, and Cocke counties

The problemI am having is I want to know the names of the towns, I try by county and don't get much info. I am "feeling" Sevierville, I don't know why. In fact I don't know why I have to go to Tennessee, it is just a strong feeling.

Hey Congrats!!! Sounds like fun, will we be seeing you on the Grand Ole Opry?!!

No But I am gooing to sing at the Great Auditorium in NJ. does that count, I will be singing with with about 500 people at the same time!!!

i live in collierville tn, it`s like 20 minutes from memphis, so i have to get rid of my chickens, it would be nice to sell my house with my chickens,

I would love to help you but you are on the other side of where I want to go. But I will let you know when I go maybe I could adopt your chickens, you will at least know I would take good care of them.

I live in middle TN and LOVE IT!! LOL. One warning about severville, Its a huge tourist trap

We try and go at least once a year to that area and it doesn't matter what time of year, what time of day, its always busy. Try some of the smaller towns outside of that area.
Our schools are not as bad as east TN apparently, but then I live in a very small community where teaching is still a lifestyle instead of a job

I dont live in Tn, but im right next door! I live in south central Ky, about 45 minutes or so from Tn. We travel to Tn alot though. It is a gorgeous state, I guess I love it so much because it is alot like Ky, geographically speaking.

Churkenduse,

I've been living in the Middle TN area for 20 years (transplant from South Jersey), and love it! here!!!

In that time, I've lived in the areas of Granville/Gainesboro (x-hubby and I were "renting to own" a 75 acre organic "farm" for $35,000, it was mostly hills with about 10 acres of flat land).

I've also lived in Cookeville, which is home to TTU.

We are now living in White County. We're about 10 miles south of Sparta, living in cow country and loving it! We are closest to Rock Island SP, followed by Burgess Falls SP and Fall Creek Falls SP.

Here are links to pix that I've taken from some of our favorite places here...

I'm not a big city kinda gal, that's why I like the Mid-Tenn area. East TN is gorgeous, just too touristy for me.

Hope this is some help!

Dawn.
Thank you so very much for sharing those photos, I hope everyone takes a look.

Btw my daughter is Dawn too...

I am being begged not to move so far away by friends.

I have a lot to think about. I do have time so I will make the right decision I am sure. I appreciate all the kind words and encouragement all of you have given me. I will take that where ever I do move to.

We moved to Flat Creek, TN just outside Shelbyville and love it here. The best thing to do is check out some differrent areas on vacation. That's what we did and six months later we moved. Tenn is a beautiful place and we have some natural waterfalls close too. I love the hills and having land to farm on or do anything. We now have horses (Shelbyville is Tenn Walking Horse captial) and soon will get some chickens, pigs and cows. Good Luck on your search.
