I am Thinking of moving to Tennessee suggestions?

Hi! I was born and raised in East TN...Newport area. I have lived in Knoxville and Morristown which is east TN. Yes it is a very beautiful place, but the school systems there are lacking greatly. If you have small children or even teenage children, I strongly suggest home schooling them. I have all of my family there, and I would never move back there due to the school systems there. I have no idea what the system is in middle or west TN, but the East is horrible. Other than that the Smokies are beautiful. I love Cades Cove, Gatlinburg. There is a lot to do there. Lots of churches is you go to church, it is mainly Baptist or Sounthern Baptist, but there are other Churches. If it weren't for the school systems, and my children hanging with the wrong crowd when we got there, I would still be there. Hope I didn't discourage you at all. That wasn't my intention. Just letting you know about the schools.

Cocke, Jefferson and Hamblen counties are ok, as long as you don't live in the major cities/towns! For example (and I'm sure lil will agree)Newport (Cocke)really has a lot of problems, drugs, crime etc., but Cosby, or Bybee, both a few miles away is a LOT better. Much more rural minded folks there. I wouldn't live IN Morristown (Hamblen) but the surrounding areas are ok.
It the same thing if you were moving to New York City. There are some neighborhoods you definately wouldn't want to live in!
What you can do is find an area you like, price ranges etc and then contact a couple of the local churches or schools to ask about the specific address. Checking out the local newspaper police blotter is a good thing too.

I just remembered something that might help you.
I look on www.hometownnews.com type that in and it should give you a site that lets you pick a state, then the local newspaper that are on line show up...from there you pick a newspaper...click the classified section...and you begin hunting for your land!

I live in claiborne, over 300 acres of woods behind the house and love it. I;m thirteen though it depends on what you want to live by really, because theres stuff like three hundred acres of woods or the big cities

Churkenduse , well let me tell you something,when are you thinking moving, i moved from mass to tennessee four years ago, well i really did because my work, but i think it was a big mistake ,actually the are is nice, my work is the problem, so i`m thinking to moving back to mass, so i live in collierville tn, it`s like 20 minutes from memphis, so i have to get rid of my chickens, it would be nice to sell my house with my chickens,

I live in Jefferson County. It's next to MoonWalker who is in Sevier County. I love it here, we are within an hour of the following things(most less than an hour) Great Smoky Mts.......Cades Cove.....Knoxville.....the Tri-Cities(Bristol, Kingsport & Johnson City)......numerous state parks......Knoxville Zoo......Ga. state line.......Ky. state line.......N.C. state line........several rivers and several lakes......Dollywood. The tree's in the fall are beautiful, not too much snow(just enough), not real hot/not real cold, taxes are not out the roof and land prices are not real high if you are hunting rural property. OH, did I say I love it here?
